The criminal justice system is such a versatile policy tool that it can be used in either way as per the designs of its wielders. Just look at a hypothetical scenario wherein a person ‘K’ kills his neighbor ‘D’ during an altercation over a dispute of some civil nature. And in consequent to this heinous act of murder the whole machinery of the criminal justice system comes into action.

Through a laudable blend of honest and sincere efforts, made under the guidance of able and upright command, the concerned police arrests the accused killer ‘K’. Then, after an efficient, unbiased…

The seeds of governance destruction are hidden in the CSS exam itself. An examination, in which more than 80% candidates fail in ‘Essay’ and ‘English Précis & Composition’ papers, speaks unambiguously that CSS is just an exam of the English language. As a corollary, it also meant that no other skill, competency or expertise is relevant, except English language, to be a so-called ‘civil servant’.

An overemphasis on English language also implies that the solution to all ills of Pakistani society lies in good ‘Essay writing’ and first class command over ‘English Précis & Composition’. …

It’s undeniable that most of the officers coming from the lower middle class, and entering into public offices, especially coming through competitive exams, are persons of knowledge, and come with good intentions. However, as it is said “road to the hell is paved with good intentions” a similar kind of phenomenon happens with these officers. On getting catapulted into the middle class and upper middle class, these officers are pressured to adopt middle-class morality with expectations to behave in a certain ‘upright’ and ‘responsible’ way.

Coming from a strata where scarcity of basic needs overrides lofty ideals and joining the…

The year 2020 is reaching its end, and with the arrival of the new year, all which happened in 2020, shall become part of the quickly fading memory. The year 2020 proved to be a fateful year of my life in a sense that I got posted to Gilgit-Baltistan. Having born and grown in the hot plains of Punjab its totally a new experience to live amongst snow clad barren mountains. …

It is always ~10% of the population that drives a society while the remaining population, except small quantum of deviants, is just followers. Human cognition and capacity varies from one person to another and no wonder if the collective effect of 10% is more fateful than the remaining lot. However, there is one precondition, and that is the availability of freedom of all degrees to this 10% lot. Dilemma of many developing societies, including Pakistani society, is the very absence of this 10% cluster, whose cumulative inductive effect may provide the requisite push and pull, and may play the role…

16 Dec 1971: Fall of Dhaka — A National Debacle Owned by None, Forgotten by All …..‘Genesis of Defeat in East Pakistan’

World War II was over — but not for Mr. Hiroo Onoda — a lieutenant in the Imperial Japanese Army, because he did not believe that the war had ended and considered it as enemy propaganda. Actually, the young soldier had orders not to surrender — a command, he obeyed for nearly three decades until 1974. He spent an additional 29 years hiding in the jungle of an isolated Philippine island and being an intelligence officer kept waging…

There is a folk tale from my ecological womb area — Jhang, that once an old father and his young, sturdy son went to grain market for some domestic purchase. There, by chance, during altercation things went noisy and broker party started beating the old gentleman. On seeing old father getting thrashed, instead of helping, the son ran away. After some time, when severely beaten, old, frail father managed to reach home the sturdy son was already there. On seeing the bad condition of the old man the neighbors inquired about the issue. …

Many seemingly irrefutable realities are just unchallenged illusions, and one prime example of this is the existence of darkness. Actually darkness does not exist anywhere, neither it’s a real thing. It’s the well thought out choice of the brain made during evolution to shut down cognition on the left and right of the spectral band visible to the humans. And it was done as per requirement. Humans could see things during night if had made use of Infrared and far-infrared part of spectrum, practically feeling no darkness. However, if this had happened then only tiny brained humans could have survived…

Not only religions, but the scientific evolution also places humans at the top of life pyramid. The human body is the most complex product fashioned by the cosmos so far. No computer or super computer matches a human machine in complexity, sophistication, resilience and effectiveness. If this is true, and which actually is irrefutable, then how a region can be termed as poor, when its producing, billions of bio-supercomputers? The problem lies in installations made over these bio-supercomputers. Most of these have pirated software having no compatibility with surrounding regional socio-ecological complex, many have corrupt windows, and nearly all are…

Our universe is evolving continuously from day one of its existence and producing constructs. Objective of evolution is production of more and more diversified constructs. In this universal evolutionary process generally the matter is used as a fixed matrix and the energy is used as expendable raw material.

Constructs are symmetries, and each one of them is coupled with an information package called data; hence on data level it can be said that the universe is evolving toward more and more diversified data production. Data is measure of certainty also hence on certainty level it can be said that universe…
